Teaching & Assessment
The programme adopts a blended style of learning and teaching and you can expect formally timetables classes with a tutor, online engagement and submission of evidence material. Personal and independent study is essential and you should expect to devote a significant amount of time to the course.
We use formative assessment to support your learning on the module, allowing you to reflect on feedback from your tutors and peers. This takes a variety of forms including feedback on assignments and evidence for the portfolio. It does not contribute to the final module mark.
The summative assessment strategy for the course consists of two components. For the ‘portfolio of evidence’ you’ll need to critically appraise and evidence contextual issues that impact on the leadership of teacher education programmes. You’ll be expected to demonstrate the ability to create effective learning environments to meet trainee teachers’ needs, based on evidence from your practice. You’ll also need to prepare a ‘reflective account’ in which you critically appraise contextual issues that impact on the leadership of teacher education programmes and critically analyse and evaluate your professional journey as a teacher educator, identifying areas for development.
The university will use all reasonable endeavours to deliver your course as described in its published material and the programme specification for the academic year in which you begin your course.
