University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
Overview
After gaining a BA in Sociology and Social Policy and a PhD in Computer Science, I spent 15 years in industry before moving into academia, where I have spent six years in research posts and over 11 years as a senior lecturer/reader.
My research outputs span over 12 years with publications in journals such as the Journal of International Technology and Information Management, the Systemist Journal and the Journal of End-User Computing. I have acted as Track Chair at four UKAIS Conferences, been invited many times as Session Chair at the international Conference European Conference for Research Methods in Business and Management, and have hosted as Conference Chair both UKAIS and ECRM in 2012.
My current research involves the development of innovative approaches for the application of methods for more effective IS adoption and implementation, with a particular emphasis on music and creative industries management. This involves facilitating creative technologies adoption and implementation, with a focus within the creative industries sector where sustainable micro-businesses and sole traders have been identified as being core to regional and national economic sustainability.
I am Treasurer of the UK Academy for Information Systems (UKAIS), which plays a key role in the future direction, definition and strategy for the IS discipline and works closely at Board Level with colleagues from the Association for Information Systems (AIS), UK systems Society, British Computer Society (BCS), UKGEC, HE Academy and E-Skills.
Professional Memberships
