Hayley Carr

After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Children's Nursing in 2012, I worked as a staff nurse within a Health Visiting Team. Following this, I completed a PGDip in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) in 2013 at the University of Bolton, where I also obtained my V100 non-medical prescribing qualification.

Having identified a passion for higher education, I have since obtained a Master of Science with distinction at the University of Bolton whilst working in my role as a Health Visitor. I worked as a Health Visitor for 3 years before commencing at the University of Bolton in February 2017 teaching on the pre-registration nursing programme.

In June 2017, I completed my postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning in higher and professional practice and became an NMC registered teacher and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

In August 2018, I became Programme Lead of the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) programme and a senior lecturer on the pre-registration nursing programme. I strive to utilise the knowledge and skills I have obtained within my previous role to inform both health visiting and nursing practice.

I have a particular interest in infant mental health and public health, given my background as a health visitor. I am keen to continue to develop both personally and professionally within my role at the university and to continue to develop the evidence base for the profession whilst informing nursing education.
