University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
Kelly started their nurse training in 2002. Upon qualification, their career commenced in a large NHS trust, where they worked in acute medicine, laying the foundation of their nursing career. After two years, a desire to specialise emerged, particularly in Critical Care, an area they hadn't experienced during their training. Spending several years in Critical Care, they progressed to the role of Critical Care Outreach Practitioner, actively seeking opportunities to advance their career through academic modules and Continuing Professional Development.
In 2015, they relocated and joined an out-of-hours service in an acute hospital trust, bringing their extensive Critical Care experience to aid with this transition. While in this role, they obtained their nurse practitioner qualification with non-medical prescribing, facing both demanding and rewarding challenges that necessitated the enhancement of their autonomy, leadership, and management skills.
In 2022, driven by a longstanding passion for teaching, they transitioned into academia at The University of Bolton, focusing on Continuing Professional Development. Throughout their 20+ year career, teaching has remained one of their primary passions.
