Support for students with a disability or a specific learning difficulty

If you believe you have a disability or a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia, make an appointment to see a Disability Advisor who can support you in obtaining a diagnosis and talk you through what support is available to you. We offer support for all disabled students, including those with health conditions or specific learning difficulties, on receipt of suitable evidence (such as a diagnostic report for specific learning differences or a Doctor/Specialist/Psychiatrist letter.) We can advise you on the type of evidence you will require, and on the individual arrangements that you could expect.

All discussions with the Disability Advisors concerning your individual requirements are in confidence.

On receipt of a specialist report or medical evidence the university can put in place the following support as required:

• Access to car parking for Blue Badge holders
• Informing your tutors and members of your School of your requirements, with your express written permission
• Individual exam arrangements (in line with the Individual Exam Arrangements Procedure for Disabled Students)
• Library book loan extensions
• Help with retrieving and collecting books
• Coloured overlays
• Loaning out equipment (laptops, digital voice recorders, ergonomic chairs, lumbar cushions, footrests)
• Discuss in confidence any accessibility issues you may have.
