UCAS waives application fees for students on free school meals

UCAS has great news for students that have been receiving free school meals for the past six years … your application fee is being waived.

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service says the move aims to get rid of the “initial financial hurdle” to attending university or college. In a recent survey, UCAS found almost two in three teachers agreed that waiving the fee would help free school meal students to progress to higher education.

UCAS says it “supports disadvantaged students to discover and apply to higher education.

“As an independent charity, ensuring all students have greater opportunity to explore their higher education choices is at our core and we’re committed to supporting students of all backgrounds to access higher education.”

The fee will be waived for those students currently receiving free school meals and those who have been receiving them for the past six years.
