University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
The University of Bolton is committed to providing a working environment and people management policies, procedures and practices which promote the wellbeing of colleagues at all levels in the institution and facilitates a positive work culture. The wellbeing statement aims to support the University’s strategic direction and the recognition that the University’s staff are its greatest asset.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) define wellbeing as ‘Creating an environment to promote a state of contentment which allows an employee to flourish and achieve their full potential for the benefit of themselves and their organisation.’
Through the integration of wellbeing in all work activities and practices, a positive environment can be created that is compatible with promoting positive staff engagement, performance and achievement. Working in partnership with all areas of the University with a common interest in promoting a culture of wellbeing is key to the success of this wellbeing statement.

In the UK there are national screening programmes for breast, cervical and bowel cancer. These are offered for free on the NHS. You will be invited for screening when you’re eligible through your GP, so it’s important to make sure that you’re registered and that your contact details are up to date.
In all cases, you should always visit your GP if you’re experiencing symptoms or have concerns, rather than wait for your next screening appointment.
Sometimes called a mammogram, this is offered to women aged 50-70 across the UK, with invitations sent every three years. If you are a trans woman, you may be included too as long as the gender marker on your medical file has been changed. To find out more about breast screening visit: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-screening-mammogram/
Offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25-64 in the UK. Often called a smear test, you will be sent an invitation every three years between the ages 25-49, and every five years for 50-64 year olds. To find out more about cervical screening visit: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening/
This is done at home using a special kit and is offered to everyone aged 56-74. However, this is being reduced to start at age 50 over the next two years, so you may receive your first kit earlier.
