Course Overview
This Level 7 Advanced Diploma of CPD in Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults is ideal for professionals working with vulnerable adults, particularly those working in the community, health and social care settings and the independent or voluntary sectors. The University of Bolton's dedicated lecturers will guide you as you explore the concepts and strategies of safeguarding and protecting vulnerable adults in a variety of settings and contexts.Covering topics such as the signs and explanations of abuse, including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse, we'll support you in developing an up-to-date, in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of safeguarding, abuse as a public health issue and best anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice. We'll discuss how to identify and analyse indications and signs of abuse, the ethical issues related to safeguarding and support you to think about how to recognise and respond to abuse. As well as exploring current policy and legal considerations, we'll encourage you to focus on the importance of inter-professional working and the multi-agency approach.
Overall, we aim to help you contribute toward the effective safeguarding of vulnerable adults in your professional arena and provide a sound platform on which you can continue to develop your knowledge of protecting vulnerable adults in the future.

Entry Requirements
- You must have an appropriate health and social care-related qualification at the honours degree level (for example, registered nurse, nursing associate, assistant practitioner, allied health professional, or paramedic) or be working in the health and social care industry with the necessary prior educational/academic experience.
- You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
- If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.5 with normally no less than 6.0 in any band (or equivalent). We also accept a range of other English language qualifications – please visit our English Language Requirements web page for more details.

Fees & Funding
Home/EU Fees
Home students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Home fee of £800 for the academic year 2024/25.
International Fees
Overseas students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Overseas fee of £800 for the academic year 2024/25.
Important note regarding tuition fees for the 2024-25 academic year: EU nationals who meet residency requirements (have settled or pre-settled status) may be eligible for 'Home' fee status. If you do not meet these residency requirements, overseas fees will apply. Irish citizens living in the UK or Ireland will be eligible for 'Home' fee status under the Common Travel Area arrangement. The fees for a student's course of study will be set for the normal duration of that course subject only to inflationary increases – measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded in March each year to take effect for subsequent start dates.

Teaching & Assessment
We aim to deliver effective learning and teaching relevant to you as a student and an individual working in practice. We adopt a blended learning and teaching style, including online delivery and engagement where appropriate.
Using a number of strategies, including lectures, seminars, guided learning, independent study, group discussion and reflective practice, we hope to stimulate debate and discussion that help you master the core concepts. In addition, we'll focus on your individual needs by offering scheduled tutorial support where you receive personalised advice and guidance.
E-learning is also available through our virtual learning environment (Moodle), so you can complete further study when or wherever convenient.
Teaching and learning will reflect your experience and professional status, and previous learning and practice experiences are recognised, built upon and valued.
